Where's The Respect?

If there were to be a case for the revival of Respect, then that case could and should be made to the disrespected people of Blackburn, Bradford, Peterborough, Walsall and Waltham Forest. There are MPs there, such as Imran Hussein at Bradford East, who would deserve such an endorsement rather than such a challenge. But that could not be said of all of them.

Blackburn, Bradford, Peterborough, Walsall, Waltham Forest, and Telford. Yes, some men of Pakistani heritage had no respect for white, working-class girls. But nor did white, middle-class social workers, Councillors (across parties), Police Officers, and so on. No daughters of theirs would ever have been in that situation in the first place. But they did not care about the daughters of certain other people.

From Blackburn to Bradford, from Peterborough to Walsall, and from Waltham Forest to Telford, this is not about ethnicity. This is about class. This is about respect.
