Sir Eric Pickles did a lot of harm as Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
But he did at least permit reversion to the old committee system, which made Councils and Councillors accountable.
The next Labour Government ought to mandate such reversion.
But why do the Conservatives want to remind the world that they once controlled Bradford City Council, something that would be completely inconceivable today?
