It is
completely ridiculous to suggest that the only way to get men to read about
politics or football is to include a photograph of a topless woman. Or is that
only working-class men, in the heavily public school world of the redtop press?
The only people to have come out of this week well have
been the articulate Page 3 models such as Chloe Goodman and Laura Lacole. Why
has it taken Page 3 to discover them? Or Katie Price, who is now a forthright Sun
on Sunday columnist?
I am going to regret this, Brendan, but if you feel this strongly, then how about two new features,
perhaps on different sites in order to avoid subjecting spiked to filters?
One could be called Brains with Breasts, and the other, oh, I
don't know, Clever
Dicks. Respectively featuring women and men.
As long as a thousand-word essay on an economic, social,
cultural or political theme were up to par, then it would be published
alongside one or more nude photographs of its author. Or ought that to be the
other way around?

ReplyDeleteThat said, I wouldn't be surprised if spiked did this and I'd bet good money on the Sun doing novelty Page 3 items featuring men, older women, BAME woman, disabled women and so on to troll its critics even more.
