Was Jesus Married?

No.

Funny how this rubbish appears right as Mitt Romney goes into the Presidential Election, though.

The Four Canonical Gospels became just that because all and only they are reliable, eye-witness accounts. Get over it. And then get under it.

  2. I love the willingness to believe this latest Dan Brown-esque piece of gibberish on the part of people who have always previously claimed (unlike even Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens or A C Grayling) that Jesus never existed at all.

  3. Unlikely to get a preface by John Milbank, probably the most influential theologian in the English-speaking world and also one of the most influential in Europe. Leave that to you, Mr. L.

"I want to be very clear that this fragment doesn't actually give us any evidence that Jesus was married, or not married. It is too late. In fact all of the earlier and most reliable historical information is completely silent and this does not change that situation.

So why the excitement? Where does the story come from? Can reporters not read?

  5. More reason to support traditional education in the humanities, as folks who at least had a little background in historical methodology would be able to see through this sort of thing.
