Civil Order

"It is nothing to do with the Church, because this is civil marriage, so all that matters is that they love each other"?

In point of fact, the State only got involved in marriage at all, partly in order to regulate it in accordance with the rising power that was Christianity, and partly in order to prevent that rise from subverting the Roman laws relating to inheritance and citizenship. Love has absolutely nothing to do with marriage as a civil institution.

Is same-sex "marriage" in accordance with Christian teaching? But would it subvert existing laws of inheritance and citizenship? It fails on both of the criteria for any State role in matrimonial matters.
